once upon a time.

Once upon a time….

In a beautiful kingdom, there lived a beautiful princess named Annaleigh. A great king ruled the kingdom. He resided in a palace in the center of the land, surrounded by many princes and princesses. All of his children were welcome to come see him at the palace any time they wished.

The princess Annaleigh went often to visit the king. She’d sit on his lap while he told her stories. Sometimes they’d sing together. When she wasn’t in the palace the princess loves to go outdoors. She’d splash into the stream running around the edge of the kingdom, climb the giant trees and dance barefoot in the lush green meadows.

However, the Nidgits also lived in the kingdom. The Nidgits wanted to overthrow the Great king so they could rule the kingdom themselves. But they knew the great king was too wise, too strong and too powerful to be beaten. So they decided the best way to attack him was through his children the princess Annaleigh became one of their targets.

The Nidgits knew that if the princess saw them, she’d pay no attention to them or what they said, so they decided to hide in the bushes while she waded in the river, climbed the trees and danced in the meadow and tell her lies.

Beginning the following day, when princess Annaleigh went out to play, she began to hear the whispered lies. As she’d waded, she’d hear, “you are stupid and ugly. You aren’t worth much.” As she climbed she’d hear, “the great king doesn’t really love you.” she danced she’d hear, “the other princesses are prettier than you.”

Sadly, Annaleigh began to believe the words, she felt worthless, unloved, and ugly. And she soon stopped wading, climbing and dancing. But the words continued to ring in her head. She heard them over and over again. And they became more and more true to her. She also stopped visiting the great king—after all, she thought, why would he want to see stupid, ugly, worthless me?

One day, Princess Annaleigh heard a knock on the door. She hoped it wasn’t one of the other princesses or princes asking her to play again. She was so tired of giving excuses. Maybe, I’ll just ignore it. She thought. But the knocking persisted, and she finally opened the door—just a crack. There, on her stoop, stood the great king.

The great king? Here to see me? But why?

She shrugged in response. She was ashamed to say that she wasn’t worth it. That he had no reason to love her. That the other princesses were prettier than she.

But he seemed to know anyway. “my sweet Annaleigh don’t believe the lies you hear whispered by the Nidgits. They are not true. They only tell you those things to get you away from me.”

The princess began to cry. The great king drew her into his magnificent arms and assured her of his great love for her and her immense value to him. The more she heard his voice the more ridiculous the lies seemed. Of course, they weren’t true. She was precious. She was loved. She was beautiful.

The great king looked solemn for a moment. “annaleigh, the lies will always be there. They will continue to be whispered around you. But you must come to me to know the truth.”

When the lies seemed to make sense again, She would run to the great king. And as he held her on his lap and stroked her hair, he spoke truth to her until the lies fade away.

God, thankyu for loving us that you’re there to defend us. give us strength to fight against the lies of the world, Your truth is all that’s real. love you dad!
